Just sharing an item in today’s Observer, and adding a few comments.
“ Bartlett said Fern Gully would be transformed into a thematic attraction blending in nature”… “adding that Fern Gully's development would be done in collaboration with several environmental agencies.”
NJCA is NOT one of the ‘several environmental agencies’ that have been included in these discussions, but upon making some inquiries we have heard that REPLANTING of vegetation in Fern Gully is being proposed as part of this project.
The above represents a move by the newly elected political officials to implement a similar project concieved by the Local Footsteps group.

Fern Gully Project
Moneague shade house being cleaned out prepared for fern propagation
An established plot of ferns next to the main road
samples of ferns collected to be propagated then to be replanted in selected areas in Fern Gully.
The team went to Fern Gully in St. Ann on Wednesday July 24. We identified a few scanty areas in the gully which need to be resuccitated. We then went on to select six different species of ferns which we brought back to Moneague College for the purpose of propagating (increasing). The ferns will be propagated in the Moneague College's 'shade house'. Once propagated, we will return to Fern Gully to do a replanting in those areas identified. This is really a wonderful project and all the memers of this local footstep group are elated about our involvement in this project. This is in keeping with our promise to continue caring for the environment.

Green and Clean...!!!
It is a very beautiful sight to see if only we can let it remain by not destroying it and the lives that resides here. Its amazing to know the different species of meticulous animals and plants that make this place their home. By doing so we are not only protecting our lives and that of those plants and animals which can be found here in Jamaica but also in the larger picture of the world. Lets reduce our communeristic footsteps and educate other in doing the same. Lets face it if we take care of the earth, mother earth will take care of us; we want always to be able to enjoy every aspect it has to offer so lets do the right thing. it begins here local footsteps St.Ann taking the bull by its horn to make our environmental sourroundings better, preserving the earth in all possible ways. lets start here you can make a difference!
