An established plot of ferns next to the main road
samples of ferns collected to be propagated then to be replanted in selected areas in Fern Gully.
removing samples from areas that are scanty(sparse).
The team went to Fern Gully in St. Ann on Wednesday July 24. We identified a few scanty areas in the gully which need to be resuccitated. We then went on to select six different species of ferns which we brought back to Moneague College for the purpose of propagating (increasing). The ferns will be propagated in the Moneague College's 'shade house'. Once propagated, we will return to Fern Gully to do a replanting in those areas identified. This is really a wonderful project and all the memers of this local footstep group are elated about our involvement in this project. This is in keeping with our promise to continue caring for the environment.
